Task 8 - Evaluation

Evaluation,
For this unit i think i did some pretty good work overall. It was pretty simple overall but some work could be better and some i felt quite proud of.

Task 1
Task 1 was a Schedule and the Schedule was there to show what i had planned for myself and to keep me motivated to stick to it. The purpose of the schedule was to work on keeping to deadlines which i did for certain tasks but other tasks took longer than originally anticipated.

Task 2
Task 2 was a research task where i needed to choose a theme, in my case it was a mars settlement and gather pictures for inspiration. I separated my research into three things, 1. what mars looks like, 2. what a space settlement looks like and 3. what a stereotypical U.F.O looks like and i used all of these to create my own vision of a space settlement.

Task 3
During task 3 i started making designs of two different settlements and their interiors, overall i only used one of the designs that i created since i changed my mind and decided to create the exterior. I made the design a top down one and look simple so that it would be easier to create in blender.

Task 4
To start the Legal and Ethical Checklist task i signed a checklist and then talked about what copyright laws are and the difference between ethics and morals

Task 5
For the Environment Build i took pictures of what made to present to those looking at it. I showed it off from different angles with a tint of red on it.

Task 6
With task 6 the Prototype/Flythrough Build, i animated the camera to move around the map and observe everything from the terrain, to the settlement and finished it off with the U.F.O.

Task 7
To finish off this assignment I put on my presentation that i had been making since the beginning. This presentation was all about what i did and how i did my environment build. I went through everything that i had made and put it on my blog.

I had asked my friend/peer Sam Watts to evaluate my environment and give me point on how it could be improved and he gave me a few points such as adding a space skybox, giving the place dust particles, making rocks in blender to change how it looks and making the terrain vary in colour more.

In conclusion i think i did quite a nice piece of work but i think there is a lot of things that were lacklustre in it, i'm happy with what i had made but i know that if i were to do it again that i would be able to improve my work.

Task 8 - Evaluation

Gain feedback by allowing gamers to explore or view your environment and write an evaluation of your project. Use your blog posts to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your design process. Try to establish whether or not your finished product has achieved the aim of the project. Take into consideration anything said by interested parties.

Remember that you are trying to create a 3D environment to a technical quality that reflects near-professional standards following industry practice, showing creativity and flair and working independently to professional expectations.

This provides evidence Unit 68 – P3, M3, D3
